MAC Fluidline Gel Eyeliner In Waveline |
Take a step inside...
On m wonderful birthday trip to Nashville with my friend and sister-by-another-mother Heather, we stopped by the MAC store so I could break my MAC cherry and get some items that I wanted (hello Viva Glam Rihanna!). While at the registrar, I got a wild hair, and remembered an Instagram post by a senior MAC artist, Romero Jennings, from an Asian fashion week. In the post, he used a navy blue eyeliner to create an amazing graphic cat eye on the models. I knew standing there I would regret not getting it, so...I did.
My experiences with gel liners are pretty mixed as I have always stayed with Wet N Wild, Maybelline, and LORAC. The problem with applying all three previous attempts seemed to be the tugging and then the drying of the product itself out. Gel liners are suppose to be smooth and easy to work with. Those three for me were far from tat experience. Maybelline came close, but the color was patchy and refused to stay put. Pfftttt....ain't nobody got time for that!
So I decided to try a higher-end gel liner and one that people seemed to universally rave about--MAC Fluidline. At $16, it is almost double most drugstore gel liners, but like I said, bad experiences had me thinking maybe I needed to invest a bit more into it.
And...I am so glad I did. The color, first off, was a rich, perfect navy.
It was creamy in consistency, and did not apply patchy. It was easy to use and applied fabulously with my tiny little eyeliner brush to achieve the perfect line on my eye, or as close to it as I can manage to get on the first go :)
It set fairly quickly into a matte finish and didn't budge for over ten hours--all afternoon and night.
You can purchase Fluidlines from MAC counters and stores, and online for $16 in a wide variety of colors. I have my sights set on that pretty minty green right now.
TL;DR--APPLIES BEAUTIFULLY, EVEN IF YOU HAVE TROUBLES WITH EYELINER. EXCELLENT COLOR PAYOFF.
And as for the rest of my face for my date night with the hubby--
I used the following, which I bought all myself--
- MAC Prep + Prime CC Colour Correcting Cream in Neautralize
- IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream--one pump light and two pumps in fair, applied with a beauty sponge
- Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil and Gel in Dark Brown
- Maybelline LE Color Tattoo in 225 Just Beige (Matte Color) as all over eye base, applied with fingers
- Maybelline LE Color Tattoo in 85 Beige-ing Beauty as lid color, applied with finger
- MAC Fluidline in Waveline as upper lid liner, applied with a Merle Norman eyeliner/eyebrow brush
- Clinique Cheek Pop Blusher in Ginger Pop, applied with an ELF angled blush brush
- Givenchy Le Roughe Lipstick in Magnolia Organza on lips, applied with the Real Techniques retractable lip liner brush.
- Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara applied to lashes.
- Lancome Translucence Powder in Ivory applied all over the face to set makeup.
Everything can be easily duped for cheaper/available/different type products if one aspect doesn't appeal to you. Enjoy!
