Covergirl Smoochies Sizzle Gloss Review

I got this in my Target Box that I bought in March. No affiliate links either.

Does anyone else remember Covergirl Smoochies lipbalm and gloss from middle and high school? I do. I disticntly remember their candy smell and I just loved feeling so grown-up wearing them. I have three or four of the balms, and at least two of the glosses. Even though they didn't provide much color, it was a way to have my makeup approved by my mom before I started working and buying my own (hello Estee Lauder counter!).

I was very, very excited to see in my awesome Target box a cute, peachy pink Sizzle Gloss staring up at me. Would it be everything I remembered?

Oh yes. Yes, it was.

The instant I opened the tube, I could smell my life at 13 years old. That candy-fruity smell. It took me back to rides on the bus. Time spent with my BF4E "Cherry" and a certain red-headed young man. The ups and downs of early teenager-hood smelled like this gloss. And kind looked like it. Definitely felt like this gloss.

Ah, the slightly gritty texture of teen angst. All sparkles and grit.

The light pink on my lips on serves as a means of conveying the glitter to my lips. On my naturally berry lips, the silver glitter looks very pretty and eye-catching without being like glass.

The formula itself wasn't hydrating and it wasn't really drying either, so neutral. It is slightly sticky though, so go light.

Unfortuately, the gloss was as fleeting as youth--it lasted for under an hour before getting too gritty to be comfortable. I had to keep reapplying to smooth out the glitter. It eventually wore off after my second frapp in 2 hours. You could still smell the candy fruit scent a longtime after application, so much like the cologne of your secret crush.

Hahaha. I will quit now :P

If you too would like a ride down memory lane, or just try out something that makes us old farts feel nostalgic, Covergirl Smoochies Sizzle Gloss is available at drugstores, Walmart, and Ulta. Walmart has them up for $4.94.

TL;DR--JUST AS YOU REMEMBER--SWEET. CHEAP. GLOSSY. SHORT WEAR TIME. LOW PIGMENTATION. HIGH GLITTER. GRITTY ONCE GLOSS IS GONE.
